Instructions for Authors for publishing in Research in Pedagogy Journal


Research in Pedagogy Journal is published 2 times per year (in Jun and December) by the Serbian Academy for Education, Belgrade, the Pedagogical Faculty in Vranje University of Nis and the Preschool Teacher Training College “Mihailo Palov”, Vrsac. The Journal considers all manuscripts on condition they are the property (copyright) of the submitting author(s) and that copyright will be transferred to Research in Pedagogy Journal and the Preschool teacher Training College “Mihailo Palov” Vrsac if the paper is accepted for publication.

The Journal Research in Pedagogy gives priority to empirical and applicable research, that is, research that is capable of being used in real educational settings. Studies in all settings for education – formal, informal; primary, secondary, higher; andragogy and whole life learning – are regarded as being of equal importance. All papers which appear in the Journal Research in Pedagogy have been thoroughly peer-reviewed.

Submissions

Research in Pedagogy Journal is published in the English or Serbian language. The authors who submit their papers in Serbian are asked to do so in the Latin alphabet, the authors who submit their papers in English  are asked to send the papers without using any letters which do not appear in the Latin alphabet (all of the references must be written without using letters which do not appear in the Latin alphabet. Manuscripts should be from 5,000 to 7,000 words long, including the abstract and reference list. Submissions should not be more than 20 pages in length. The editors retain the right to, in exceptional circumstaces, accept papers which are longer. The submitted papers should be original and unpublished work which is not currently under review by another journal or publisher. The number of co-authors (along with the author) for a research paper which will be published in the journal is limited to two. Authors should also send a short biography (up to 5 sentences).

Review Process

Manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editors and only those meeting the aims and scope of the journal will be sent for double blind peer review. The papers, on the basis of the reviewer’s and proofreader’s opinions, can be returned to the author for review only two times; if after that the necessary standards have still not been met – the papers will be declined for publishing.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees. All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, but the review process usually takes at least 3 months. The Journal Research in Pedagogy has a fully e-mail based correspondence and review system. All submissions should be made by e-mail to: submission@research.rs

Copyright

After the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer form. Copyright will be transferred to the Preschool Teacher Training College in Vrsac, via e-mail. A copyright form will be sent to you via e-mail after the chapter manuscript has been submitted.

Proofs

A proof will be sent to the corresponding author.


Attachment

The journal Research in Pedagogy publishes original scientific papers which present qualitative and quantitative empirical research in the electronic form. Papers which have successfully passed the review process are published on the journal site www.research.rs immediately after the Editorial Board has made its decision, while certain volumes are concluded biannually (30th Jun and 31st December) when the papers are given an adequate DOI number.

Issuing a reprint to authors is possible upon their personal request. The reprint is issued in three copies the contents of which contain: the title page of the journal, pages with information about the publisher and the issue, the published paper of the author and a certificate of publishing which is stamped and signed by one of three co-publishers. The fee for the reprint and its mailing is 5000 RSD for authors form Serbia and 50 EUR (55 USD) for authors from abroad.

ISTRAŽIVANJA U PEDAGOGIJI


Časopis Srpske akademije obrazovanja – Beograd, Učiteljskog fakulteta u Vranju Univerziteta u Nišu i Visoke škole strukovnih studija za vaspitače „Mihailo Palov– Vršac

Research in Pedagogy je međunarodno recenziran časopis, s međunarodnim uređivačkim odborom. Namenjen je objavljivanju originalnih naučnih radova, na srpskom ili engleskom jeziku, u kojima su predstavljeni nalazi kvantitativnih i kvalitativnih empirijskih istraživanja, ali i teorijskih, primenjenih i dr. Časopis izlazi dva puta godišnje (u decembru i junu).

Primarni cilj časopisa jeste da podstakne interes za istraživanja u pedagogiji, te da omogući da se nalazima testiraju i argumentovano kritički sagledavaju dometi i ograničenja novih teorijskih pristupa, modela i strategija u vaspitanju i obrazovanju. Namera je i da se podstakne i pojača komunikacija između istraživača u ovoj oblasti u regionu, Evropi i šire, kao i da nalazi budu most između teorijskih koncepata i prakse i omoguće praktičarima da i sami vrše provere u svome radu i tako sebe približe modelu refleksivnih praktičara. Svrha časopisa jeste i da posluži akterima u reformskim potezima obrazovnih politika koje su, neretko, zasnovane na paušalnim ocenama i sa slabom empirijskom argumenatacijom, a imajući u vidu to da velike društvene promene u poslednjim decenijama, vreme tranzicije – traže naučno rasvetljavanje konteksta za pedagoške strategije.

Ne manje vredan cilj jeste i da se podstaknu teorijske refleksije o metodološkim pitanjima, odnosno da se diskutuju metateorijska pitanja, poput filozofskih osnova paradigmi u pedagoškim istraživanjima, dometa i ograničenja heterodoksne i ortodoksne paradigme, mogućnosti njihove triangulacije…

Časopis Research in Pedagogy (ranije: Istraživanja u pedagogiji) osnovali su Srpska akademija obrazovanja u Beogradu i Visoka škola strukovnih studija za vaspitače „Mihailo Palov” u Vršcu, a od 2018. godine suizdavač je i Pedagoški fakultet u Vranju Univerziteta u Nišu.

Srpska akademija obrazovanja u Beogradu (www.sao.org.rs), kao akademska naučnoistraživačka institucija, organizuje, razvija i podstiče naučnoistraživački rad u oblasti obrazovanja, usmeren na teorijsko i empirijsko istraživanje obrazovanja kao društvene delatnosti, naučnih i nastavnih disciplina od značaja za unapređivanje obrazovanja. Srpska akademija obrazovanja ima u svom sastavu istaknute naučnike, istraživače, univerzitetske profesore iz Srbije i drugih evropskih zemalja, iz više oblasti (pedagogije, sociologije obrazovanja, psihologije, matematike, andragogije, tehnike, ekonomije, tehnologije, fizičke kulture i biomehanike).

Suosnivač i suizdavač časopisa je Visoka škola strukovnih studija za vaspitače „Mihailo Palov” u Vršcu (www.uskolavrsac.edu.rs), akreditovana kao državna institucija za osposobljavanje vaspitača dece predškolskog uzrasta – osnovne i master strukovne studije. Visoka škola je naslednik institucija koje su od nemačke Preparandije iz 1854. godine do danas u Vršcu obrazovale Nemce, Srbe, Rumune, Mađare, Jevreje… za poziv učitelja i vaspitača. Naučna delatnost Visoke škole realizuje se učešćem profesora u domaćim i međunarodnim projektima, organizovanjem međunarodnih naučnih skupova, kao i kroz bogatu izdavačku delatnost…

Suizdavač časopisa je Pedagoški fakultet u Vranju, koji je nastavno-naučna i obrazovna visokoškolska ustanova u sastavu Univerziteta u Nišu (www.pfvr.ni.ac.rs/). Fakultet realizuje obrazovnu i naučnoistraživačku delatnost, a njih prati publikovanje knjiga, udžbenika, priručnika, monografija i drugih stručnih i informativnih izdanja i časopisa. Fakultet obrazuje nastavni kadar za učitelje, vaspitače i profesore informatike i tehnike kroz tri nivoa studija: studije prvog, drugog i trećeg stepena.

THE JOURNAL ISSUED BY THE SERBIAN ACADEMY OF EDUCATION – BELGRADE, PEDAGOGICAL FACULTY IN VRANJE – UNIVERSITY OF NIS AND THE PRESCHOOL TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE “MIHAILO PALOV” – VRSAC

Research in Pedagogy is an international peer-reviewed journal, with an international editorial board. It is devoted to the publishing of original scientific papers which present the results of quantitative and qualitative empirical research, but also theoretical, applied, etc. The journal is published bianually (in December and Jun) and is bilingual (in the English language or the Serbian language).

The journal is published with the aim of arousing interest in pedagogic research and opening up possibilities to test and critically consider the reaches and limitations of more recent theoretical approaches, models and strategies in upbringing and education according to research findings. One of the intentions is to inspire, strengthen and empower communication among researchers in the region, as well as across all European countries and worldwide, with the research findings being a bridge between theoretical concepts and practice, providing practitioners with the opportunity to investigate their own work themselves, thus getting closer to the model of reflective practitioners. Furthermore, the purpose of the journal is to serve the actors involved in the educational policies reform often grounded on arbitrary assessments and supported by weak empirical arguments; on the other hand, great social changes have in the last decades of transition  been seeking for scientific explication of pedagogic strategies context.

Not less valuable aim is to incite theoretical reflections on methodological issues, i.e. to discuss meta-theoretical matters, philosophical grounds of paradigms in pedagogic research, the reaches and limitations of heterodox and orthodox paradigm, the possibility of their triangulation…

The journal Research in pedagogy is published by the Serbian Academy of Education in Belgrade and the Teacher Training College “Mihailo Palov” in Vrsac. From the year 2018 the Teacher Training Faculty  in Vranje University of Nis is a co-publisher.

The Serbian Academy of Education in Belgrade (www.sao.org.rs) that organizes, develops and encourages scientific-research work in the field of education, with an emphasis on theoretical and empirical research of education as social activity, as well as teaching disciplines important for knowledge improvement. The members of the Serbian Academy of Education are acknowledged as scientists, researchers, university professors from Serbia, as well other European countries from various fields (pedagogy, sociology of education, psychology, mathematics, andragogy, technical sciences, economy, technology, physical education and biomechanics). 

The Preschool Teacher Training College “Mihailo Palov” in Vrsac (www.uskolavrsac.edu.rs) is the co-publisher and co-founder of the journal. It is an acredited state institution for the education of preschool teachers – Bachelor’s and Master’s studies. The college is a successor of the institutions that used to train primary school and preschool teachers (Germans, Serbs, Romanians, Hungarians, Jews….) since the German Preparadia dating from 1954. The scientific activity of the College refers to the participation of its professors in both domestic and international projects, organization of international scientific conferences and rich publishing activity.

A co-publisher of the journal is the Pedagogical Faculty in Vranje which is an academic and educational higher education institution within the University of Nis (www.pfvr.ni.ac.rs/). The faculty implements educational and scientific-research activities and also publishes books, coursebooks, manuals, monographs and other professional and informative publications and journals. The faculty is formed by a teaching staff for the education of primary school teachers, preschool teachers and  information technology teachers through three levels of study: first, second and thild level.
